Texas LPC Supervision Updates

An Update Regarding Texas LPC Supervision Rules
(and general LPC rules)

I will be attending the 2021 TACES (Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision) Mid-Winter Conference this week, and one of the big topics is all the changes to the LPC rules. During the training, we will be learning about all the legislative updates provided by Texas Counseling Association, as well as hearing from members of the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors regarding updates on rules affecting professional counselors and supervision. After the conference, I will be posting new information and letting you know what I find out. Many of these changes have probably already been addressed in some of my previous blogs, but I’m sure there are additional changes I need to post!

As a side note, one of the interesting small changes I noticed in the new rules regarding supervision is:

Rule §681.91:

(n) The LPC Associate must not represent himself or herself as an independent practitioner. The LPC Associate's name must be followed by the name of the supervisor on all advertisements, billings, and announcements, including but not limited, to websites and intake documents.

It’s not very different from the old rule, but do you notice it now leaves off the requirement to have the supervisor’s name in the same font and size? Small change, but thought I would share.

Couple other big things in the works…

As an entrepreneur and a counselor, I enjoy developing new ideas and projects. First, I mentioned this a while back, but I am now ready to share my 110% online 40 hour Texas LPC Supervisor Training!! I will be writing a separate blog post specifically dedicated to this training within the next week, but it is DONE! Just putting the final touches on the site where I offer my trainings. If you are looking for a 40 hour LPC Supervisor training, I hope you will consider my course as an option (and I am going to reduce the course rate for the first few people that purchase it, and hope the early adopters will provide feedback so I can continue to make the course even better).

I’m also working on two new ideas. I will be sharing them with the folks on my email list to get feedback over the next month, but I’m really excited about both of them.
